Maggie calls for help, but ends up becoming the main suspect. Obviously its not her, and Nick says he never suspected her, but Maggie's not so sure. The sick man can't remember anything of the night it happened because he blacked out, and is worried that he could have been responsible. But it turns out it was his son, who drove after the girl when she left that night (he had been her boyfriend) but panicked when he hit her. Nick reconsiders what Jo has said about promotion and asks Blaketon's advice about taking his sergeants exams.

Worried that the Kingpin is going to eliminate him after the botched framing of Peter Parker, Alistair Smythe arranges a meeting with Spider-Man to give him information about the Kingpin. When Spider-Man arrives, he discovers Smythe has been turned into a spider-slaying cyborg. However, when his programming malfunctions, he goes after the man he feels responsible for his father's death, Norman Osborn. Peter must fight a crazed Smythe, as well as his feelings, after he discovers Mary Jane, the woman he loves, and Harry, his best friend, are engaged.

Arhtur is annoyed at his failed attempts to lose weight and dismayed at how much of a wimp he is. When he and Tick defeat a villain named Evil, Arthur takes Evil's strength-enhancing belt. When Arthur wears it, he gains confidence and likes seeing himself with a muscular physique. While dating Carmalita, Arthur picks a fight with two guys to show his new strength and confidence. The Tick is called in to end the fight and he tangles with Arthur. In the end, Arthur must get rid of his strength belt to save his and Tick's life. Arthur realizes the addiction the belt gave him and tosses it away so that he can be himself.
